Technical Notes

Well done, you cracked the code! Use the purple buttons on the right to navigate the various technical notes we have on this site. Any of the blue buttons will take you back outside the technical area (except "Technical Notes", which returns you here.)

European Exam Curriculum

The New Exam Program, devised by the ESC (European Shintaido College), is now available here:

  1. Shintaido exam curriculum, leading to Assistant & Instructor Levels
  2. Bojustu exam curriculum, following traditional martial arts kyu & dan levels
  3. Kenjutsu program, for those taking graduate & instructor exams
  4. ESC Exam Regulations, for running exams

Where can I take these exams?

Look at the National Events pages to see when exam events are taking place. According to current regulations exams can be hosted by different organisations in Europe as follows:

To take any exam you need to be fully paid up member of the organisation hosting the exams, or of an equivalent organistion elsewhere. Eg: you can visit a local club to take exams as long as you are a member of either BS or another local Shintaido club. Similarly, members of other national Shintaido organisations are welcome to attend BS events and take exams. It is normal to consult your instructor before visiting in this way.

Information about exams run by the ESC elsewhere in Europe is on the ESC website.
