British Shintaido (BS) is the official Shintaido organisation in the UK. It runs workshops and courses throughout the year, holds bi-annual examinations, and supervises the teaching of Shintaido throughout the UK. This website is our way of keeping in touch with you. Use the menu to the left to find out what we do, how & where we do it, and how you can get involved! If you are new to Shintaido you might like to watch this video for an introduction.

The Gower Peninsula

The Gower is very much our spiritual "Home" in the UK. Major Shintaido events have been held on this long stretch of sand for over 30 years. Here are some photos taken at Daienshu events in the past.

Shintaido membership

If you enjoy Shintaido you'll want to join us! Regular practitioners are encouraged to become supporters of BS for a small monthly fee (currently £2.50, or £30 per annum).

Benefits of membership include discounts at BS events (& also equipment purchases) as well as Taimyo magazine. It is also a requirement if you wish to take exams. For most people, however, it's mainly a way to demonstrate their support for the UK Shintaido movement.
